Effect of ethanol vapour sorption on the semiconductor-metal phase transition in powdered vanadium dioxide

We studied the effect of ethanol vapour on parameters semiconductor-metal transition in a polycrystalline vanadium dioxide powder stable monoclinic phase a-VO2. It was synthesised by reducing pentoxide with oxalic acid while heated air. The DC electrical resistance samples between room temperature and 100оС tubular heater, microcompressor-generated air stream saturated ethyl alcohol vapour. found that presence vapour, hysteresis loop shifted to higher temperatures ten degrees its cooling branch (corresponding from metallic semiconductor phase) became stepped.
